Fall into the Edge~

January 2012 Newsletter

In September, twenty of our members participated in Making Strides, a walk for Breast Cancer. These members raised over $2000. The weather was horrible but the turnout was great. Fitness Edge Teams efforts resulted in being within the top three teams for money raised! Peggy also donated her brand new Huffy bike to be auctioned before the race and she raised $200 for the cause and the bike winner was Janet Sangueldolce. Team members consisted of: Peg D'Haene, Ted Adriance, Cheryl Oullete, Lisa Noe, Joann Savage, Mike Thomas, Richard Gerken, Carol Gerken, Kim Cedarstrom, Holly Cedarstrom, Liz Hentz, Nicole Phinney, Eleanor Mardin, Linda Levy, Laura Dodge, Kathleen D'Haene, Pilar Okker, Colleen Ahlquist, Tom Allen, Miki Pike, and Heather Quinn.

Since our last newsletter in September, Both Peggy and Wanda have passed their certifications for Personal Training which helps them answer questions from members about their workouts. Both have said they have learned a lot from training with Eric and watching Liz!

Ballroom Dancing has started this month! Welcome to Judy Hernandez and Joseph Iadonisi, the instructors. Classes are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and a dance on the first Saturday night of each month. Ballroom Dancing brochures are located in the lobby.

We bought some new things for the aerobics classes, clappers (Liz’s boot camp toys for kicking and punching), resistance tubing and a few more sets of weights. Thank you Tom!

Margarita Credo, owner of The Miami Hair Salon, next to The Fitness Edge in Moultonborough, competed in the 17th Annual Bodybuilding & Figure Championships on October 29th. Marquarita was turning 50 this year and it was on her bucket list! She trained for months, changed her diet, lost weight, sculpted her body and won her division competing in the 35-50 age group! Congratulations!

Dancing with the Stars had two Fitness Edge members and one instructor this year. Liz Rohdenberg our Zumba teacher was the professional dancer with Aaron Leighton formerly of Common Man and most recently a new business owner of his own place in Ashland. Member Bev Lapham owner of Village Canvas and last years champion was the professional paired with Annie Forts of the “Up” syndrome fund and member Carol Gerken  was with member Ashley White owner of Center Harbor Dance. The dancers where skilled and entertaining. The event was a sell out with many members and staff in attendance. First Place received 50% of the money raised to give to the charity of their choice and the rest was divided amongst the other charities being recognized that night.
